The 4wd managed to get a little stuck on a side track that runs beside the Bruce Highway at Glass House Mountains.
They were travelling back from a fishing spot when they got bogged in a mud hole. As they attempted to get the vehicle out it appears a fuel leak under the rear end combined with heat from the exhaust and set the vehicle alight. They were able to safely get clear of the vehicle, and call for help.
Queensland Fire & Emergency Services attended and extingished the blaze, but not before the vehicle was damaged beyond repair.
Clayton's used their off road recovery equipment to to retrieve the vehicle and tow it back to their holding yard for assessment.
